AEW Double Or Nothing Will Still Air On PPV, Update On Plans For Las Vegas In 2021

The AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view won’t be happening at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, it will still take place on May 23.

The company revealed that it will still happen today despite the coronavirus pandemic. They say that “features of the event itself ultimately being determined by the latest guidance of national and global health authorities.” They also confirmed the 2021 postponement and said additional information will be announced in the future.

Here’s the full statement from AEW:

AEW’s DOUBLE OR NOTHING event will be televised on pay-per-view as scheduled on Saturday, May 23, at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT). Additional details related to DOUBLE OR NOTHING, which was initially scheduled to be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, will be revealed in the weeks ahead with features of the event itself ultimately being determined by the latest guidance of national and global health authorities.

The highly anticipated event will be available for purchase via iN DEMAND cable operators, DirecTV, DISH Network and B/R Live. International fans can purchase the event at FITE.TV.

The DOUBLE OR NOTHING live event originally scheduled May 23, 2020, has been rescheduled for the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday, May 29, 2021.

While All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view was always in doubt thanks to the current COVID-19 outbreak, a recent message from the MGM Grand Hotel seems to confirm that the event has been rescheduled.

According to Dave Hancock on Twitter, the pay-per-view has been rescheduled to later this year, with May 29, 2021 set as the new date. This comes after Hancock sent a direct message to the hotel on Twitter, asking whether or not the event was still planned for its May 23, 2020 date. This comes after a report last week that MGM Resorts had closed all shows and attractions through May 31.

However, the news that the event will reportedly be rescheduled until 2021 is a bit of a shock, although no official announcement from either MGM or All Elite Wrestling has been made. In the meantime, it seems as if it’s safe to assume that Double or Nothing will not be happening in May.
