Following the House Education Committee's grilling on recent instances of anti-Semitic violence at the University of Pennsylvania campus, President Elizabeth Aka Liz Magill has resigned from the position. Magill received backlash for her comments and for not taking a firm stance against elements at Penn's campus trying to disturb peace.

Penn President Magill's voluntarily resigned from her position. The news of Magill's resignation came through an email, which had been widely shared on social media sites. The email was sent to the Penn community around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

“It has been my privilege to serve as President of this remarkable institution. It has been an honor to work with our faculty, students, staff, alumni, and community members to advance Penn’s vital missions,” Magill wrote in a statement while tendering her resignation. Magill was criticized for the way she spoke about and handled the anti-Semitic acts on UPenn's campus.

Husband and Children: Magill is married to Leon Francis Szeptycki. The couple has two children.

Salary and Net Worth: Edujobbd.com cites the university’s tax filings to report that Liz Magill’s annual salary as the president was $1.2 million. She also received other benefits and perks. The website adds that her net worth is estimated to be around $6.5 million as of November 2023.

In a letter sent to the campus community on Saturday, Scott Bok, head of the university's board of trustees, announced that President Magill was resigning. "On behalf of the entire Penn community, I want to thank President Magill for her service to the University as President and wish her well," Bok wrote.

Magill stepped down after the Wharton board called for her resignation. Despite her leaving the position, Magill will remain a tenured faculty member at Penn Carey Law, according to the email.

Notably, there is going to be a trustees' meeting at 5 p.m. Saturday. Magill became the UPenn President in mid-2022.
